Small Blog Meet, Fresh Sewing Day, & WIP Wednesday

Lily's QuiltsLily's QuiltsWIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

Forgive I am going to throw a stone and knock out two meet ups at the same time. Since it is the first of the month and a Tuesday. There is no sense of writing two blog post of the same things. Please forgive me for being a day early on the WIP Wednesday.
On Saturday's Sew-In with my quilt guild I taught/demonstrated how to make Vanessa Christensen's Houndstooth quilt. My main angle for this was to show how to use the 4 1/2 inch strip ruler by Creative Grids and to introduce modern quilting to the guild.
I spent the free time that we had at the Sew-In cutting out the Houndstooth quilt.
I can not wait to get back to it since it is such a fun quilt to work with.
Plus I am interested in seeing how the toile will turn out in this quilt too!

Houndstooth

This was another teaching /demonstration that I gave at Saturday's Sew-In.
These were used in a in a combination of free motion quilting and how to baste your quilt with Frog tape.
I am planning to make some pillows out of these.
Twirl pinwheels

These HSTs were also demonstrated at Saturday's Sew-In by using Omnigrids HST rulers.
I am still up in the air of what I am going to do with them.
I am thinking a table runner.
However, I spotted some inspiration from Katy Jones (I'm a Ginger Monkey) that I might just put together.

Another demonstration that I did on Saturday's Sew-In was to show how to make ice cream cone boarder.
This was also done by using Creative Grids Dresden Plate Ruler.

Yes, I am still working on this one.
Sadly I got a little quilters ADD and lost my mojo for working on it.
It will get done!
I just need to clean my house and I am so aching to get moving on that Houndstooth quilt.

Secret project

I even got more distracted and used my left over scraps into a faded color wheel.
Which I know most of you all have seen.

That is all I have!

Hello! Coming over from the Small Blog Meet. Love the ice cream cone border! Though I wouldn't look forward to binding it--have you made one before? I read your "about" too--sounds like me--a one-woman show! Nice to "meet" you!

a sew-in...I love it!
I do sit n' sew for 3 hours once a month at the quilt shop, but I need a lot more just sewing times (away from home) to get things done.
